About Us

About Us

We have supported nearly 50 schools over the past five years across districts in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Chicago, Ohio, and Connecticut. Many of the schools we have partnered with are just like yours; working extremely hard to provide an exceptional education to diverse populations.

We develop curriculum and support teachers in using evidence-based practices that have lead to results, year after year. We have also had the honor of presenting our work at globally recognized conferences like the New York City Writing Program (NYCWP), National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE), American Educational Research Association (AERA) and World Education Research Association (WERA).

At the end of our partnership, school communities will have the knowledge, skills, and resources to build the capacity of culturally responsive teachers and teacher leaders in order to foster a learner-centered environment and close gaps in opportunity, access, and achievement for students.

We Commit To:

about
  • Meeting schools where they are and developing a plan of action to get them to where they want to be. We are committed to staying the course regardless of obstacles or circumstances.

  • Seeing all students with an asset-based mindset and as valuable collaborators in the learning process.

  • Approaching design work through the lens of guided inquiry and the intentional inclusion of productive struggle.

  • A gradual release process where coaches are supported with scaffolds to internalize both the why and the how of the curricular design.

  • Prioritizing student voice in our curriculum design, leveraging problems and texts that are important to them in the context of rigorous standards-based content.

  • The 3 pillars of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy as put forth by Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings: (1) Academic Achievement, (2) Cultural Competence and (3) Socio-political consciousness, as equally weighted and interconnected aspects of education.

  • Valuing classroom teachers as the experts in the strengths, gaps, and needs of their students.
